The second edition of the international contemporary dance festival Lugano Dance Project is dedicated to the combination of the human body and architecture. From 11 to 16 June 2024 it will transform, the city of Lugano and its environs, into a great showcase for artists and performing arts operators from all over the world.
Five new productions, site-specific performances, round tables, artist's ateliers, workshops, meetings, a Tanzfaktor evening dedicated to the emerging Swiss dance scene and the screening of two films by Édouard Lock in the presence of the Canadian choreographer himself: a rich programme of events which, in addition to the spaces of the LAC, will include some of Ticino’s most significant architectural sites, such as the Ciani Kindergarten in Lugano, the San Materno Theatre in Ascona, and the Santa Maria degli Angeli Church on Monte Tamaro, designed by architect Mario Botta.

Collaboration with the Academy of Architecture

Thanks to its collaboration with the Academy of Architecture USI of Mendrisio and the architect Riccardo Blumer, the LAC is directly involved in an educational-artistic project curated by the choreographer Michele Di Stefano – winner of the Silver Lion Award at the 2014 Dance Biennale – and his mk group, with the aim of creating an installation where, during the days of the Festival, performances, thematic talks and concerts will be offered.
