The convergence of choreographic practices and architectural thought gives rise toThe Lovely Gears, the final presentation of the project that Chiara Bersani – associate artist at Triennale Milano Teatro – developed together with the students of the Academy of Architecture at the University of Italian Switzerland in Mendrisio during the spring semester.
From the dialogue between bodies, space and movement, objects, prototypes and forms emerged which, together with the students of the Academy, grew and evolved over the months of work. What emerged is a community of bones and wood, gears and joints, glances and squeaks. Between the human and the non-human, a fluid tribe develops in which every movement requires a push, an accompaniment, a presence at one’s side. A tribe in which solitude generates immobility and closeness reveals movement.
