One of the most intriguing figures on the contemporary Beirut scene, Ghida Hachicho presents a performance which, taking the form of a documentary, explores the processes and contexts through which territorial violence takes shape.

The Gombe Chimpanzee War (1974–1978) was a violent conflict between two groups of chimpanzees, the Kasakela and the Kahama, observed and documented by Jane Goodall in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania. Marked by territorial expansion, organised aggression and planned attacks – including episodes of cannibalism – the war ended with the systematic elimination of the Kahama group.
By reconstructing and retracing individual and collective behaviours, movements and spatial dynamics, Prelude to Violence analyses how territorial violence is enacted, tested and consolidated over time.
