Based on the novel by John Grisham, the performance written, directed and interpreted by Mirko D’Urso, tells with depth and intensity the incredibly sad judicial story of baseball player Ron Williamson who was wrongfully sentenced to death for the rape and murder of a young girl.

"A man alone. A cage. A confession. After reading Grisham’s novel I continued to think about Ronald Keith Williamson for several days. I thought about his life, about what he went through after being wrongfully sentenced to death for killing a young girl, after spending eleven years on death row. That’s what led me to create Innocente, a tough, violent, vulgar performance. Just like Ron was at times.
The audience watches a man in slow agony. They see his rage, his desperation and frustration. They witness his resignation, his weaknesses and his fears. They see his madness and his death.
Without being able to do anything. Forced to accept what is happening in front of his eyes. Irritated, upset. A cage. An orange jumpsuit. A man.
And on the other side the public which involuntarily and cynically becomes society, the law, the executioner. Maybe they will feel shame”.
