Between New York, the Mediterranean and the Indian subcontinent. This could be the geographical, poetic and musical setting for one of the most innovative and acclaimed jazz musicians of recent years, saxophonist Oded Tzur. Raised in Tel Aviv, Tzur has lived in the United States since 2011, where he founded his own quartet and perfected an innovative technique that allows his instrument – with its entirely Western DNA – to evoke the ancient art of Indian classical music.

Described by Downbeat magazine as “a volcano at the bottom of the ocean”, Oded Tzur's talent for mystery and storytelling captivates audiences around the world. The saxophonist's work draws inspiration from the art of storytelling and explores the relationships between ancient and modern musical traditions. Tzur's unique improvisational language takes the listener on a journey that evokes deep contrasts, between silent passages and dramatic crescendos. With the creation of his own quartet in 2011, Oded Tzur marked a change in his compositional approach, moving not only between the colours of the saxophone, but also in the melodic and rhythmic universes of Indian classical music and jazz. Since its creation, the quartet has toured worldwide, presenting its persuasive improvisational approach to audiences. The three albums released have been well received by critics and have established Tzur as a leading voice in today's jazz scene.
