The LuganoMusica Ensemble returns to the stage of the LAC. The group was founded by Etienne Reymond and is composed of principal players from the OSI and professors from the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana. This versatile ensemble – which brings together the best musicians active in Lugano – takes the audience on a musical journey through different eras, styles and sensibilities, offering a repertoire of rarely performed works of surprising technical and expressive value.
The evening's programme explores the continuous movement between tradition and reinvention, between the recovery of classical form and its deconstruction, between melodic cantabile and timbral tension. Camille Saint-Saëns opens the evening with his Capriccio on Danish and Russian Airs, in which popular melodies from Russia and Denmark are reworked in a sophisticated and clear language. The Nordic element also emerges in the Grande settimino by Franz Berwald, a key figure in the transition of Scandinavian music from classicism to modernity. The second part of the programme features Francis Poulenc's Trio, with its lively and playful character, and Nino Rota's Nonetto, whose writing, while drawing on the world of cinema, remains firmly anchored in the chamber music tradition. The LuganoMusica Ensemble's concert is thus a unique opportunity to discover some rare gems of chamber music in a journey of sound that combines past and innovation.
