The theatre-concert hall was the most complex architectural realisation from a design point of view: the result is one of LAC's highlights and its versatility one of its strengths. The complete wooden cladding offers a cosy and intimate ambience despite the almost one thousand seats, and was designed to return the sound in the best possible way: the slightly curved side walls and the undulating ceiling contribute, together with the volume of the room and its inclination, to the quality of the acoustic performance. But that's not all. State-of-the-art technical solutions resulting from the collaboration between architect Ivano Gianola and the Munich-based acoustic engineering firm Müller BBM, which has already designed important auditoriums such as the Sydney Opera House and the Parco della Musica in Rome, have made it possible to create an acoustic shell that can be modulated to adapt to different types of performances and a mobile system for the orchestra pit, which can accommodate up to 60/70 musicians or retract up to the level of the stage, extending it to the first row of seats. This adaptability allows it to accommodate all types of performances: from symphony concerts to jazz concerts, from opera to operetta, from dance to drama.

The LAC has undertaken an important activity in theatre production, directly following its artistic direction, and at the same time has initiated collaborations with local and international companies as well as with some of the most prestigious orchestras, opening up to a diversified public in terms of interests, age, and culture.

Important permanent partners of the LAC are the Compagnia Finzi Pasca and theOrchestra della Svizzera italiana (OSI), while Lugano Musica brings to the LAC a calendar of concerts with the most important performers worldwide.
