If the great hall is the point of welcome and the moment of joining the LAC, it is however true that the cultural centre's relationship with its public begins here, in piazza Bernardino Luini, a place that did not exist before, designed and forged together with the LAC and that now, with an extension of 2,500 square metres, constitutes the city's largest square. Even the first impact with the inclusive harmony of this square is a prelude to the aesthetics and vision of the cultural centre: a sharing of different styles, historical moments and levels. The transparent geometry of the large hall that intersects the neoclassical front of the former Grand Hotel Palace and the volumetric compactness of the museum wing compose an impressive polyptych, which the vastness of the square allows one to admire as a whole.

And to enjoy it at leisure by taking a break in the small café located in the passage under the museum, a refreshment point for the public especially at peak times. Because it is here that the city converges for open-air performances in fine weather, that families come to discover the surprise of Christmas installations or to watch exclusive shows performed in the theatre and broadcast on outdoor screens. And it is always from this door that one enters the old part of the LAC or, lingering by the shop windows of the former Palace area, one anticipates the promenade that will continue along Via Nassa towards the city centre. This is a perfect implementation of the architectural project, which sought to unite the urban renewal and public function of the LAC also in its outdoor spaces.
