He is the most important exponent of the new Italian folk rock, a milestone achieved through more than two decades of packed concerts and a handful of records completely outside any commercial logic that have sold, in total, 350 thousand copies. His music draws from the local tradition mixing it with Celtic, country, but also reggae and, of course, rock suggestions. His lyrics mix the national language with a very particular dialect, that of Tremezzina, an evocative glimpse of Lake Como, the theater where his characters, who have now entered the collective imagination, move. A long journey inaugurated by Manicomi, a legendary album made with the De Sfroos back in 1995. As a solo artist Davide Bernasconi, this is his real name, has published Brèva & Tivàn, the mini Per una poma, ...e semm partii, the live double Laiv, Akuaduulza, Pica!, which reached fourth place in the charts, and the huge hit Yanez, dragged by the exhilarating performance at the Sanremo Festival that saw Van De Sfoos come close to the podium with an unexpected fourth place. He has published two books for Bompiani, a collection of poems, and has been artistic director of numerous events always favoring the relationship between music and the dialects of the Italian regions, collaborating with the most varied artists. In 2013 he developed the multimedia project Terra&Acqua, a television format featuring him as an original guide of the Larian lands, which also developed into a widely distributed publication and a website dedicated to culture and traditions. His latest album VAN DE BEST, a collection intended to celebrate his 25-year solo career (BMG/MyNina - https://davidevandesfroos.lnk.to/VanDeBest), contains 49 big hits released from 1999 to 2015 and re-recorded in order to make them available again to the public.
