Anton Chekhov. Profession: doctor and writer. "Medicine is my wife, literature my mistress. If one tires me, I go and spend the night with the other'. Willing to marry for real only under these conditions: ‘Give me a wife who is like the moon, who does not appear in my sky every night’.
The play analyses the extraordinary love of Anton Chekhov and the actress Ol'ga Knipper who were forced to live separately, he in Jalta because of his illness, she in Moscow because of her profession, but nevertheless united by a freedom of thought free of prejudice and determined to respect each other's autonomy. A game of cross-references and mirrors, a space of memory where the chronological shattering of the text and the multiplication of certain characters from the Czech plays live in freedom.
