Britten's The Little Sweep, on a libretto by Eric Crozier, is a true musical jewel aimed at bringing young people closer to the world of opera. It is a story about children, sung by children. Eight-year-old Sam has been sold by his very poor family to a cruel chimney sweep. In a large country house, Sam has to enter a chimney for the first time. Black Bob and his assistant push the boy up, but after they have left, Sam gets stuck. The three brothers living in the house and their cousins manage to free Sam, clean him of soot and hide him before giving the two chimney sweeps to believe that the youngster has escaped ... A production for children of all ages, directed by Lorenza Cantini and performed by musicians of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana.
