The Ensemble Claudiana is led by the well-known Lugano-born conductor and lutenist Luca Pianca, a great admirer of Monteverdi’s music. Its foundation in 2008 was closely linked to the project of performing the complete Bach cantatas at the Vienna Konzerthaus. In Lugano, Pianca will present a program entirely devoted to Antonio Vivaldi, otherwise known as the Red Priest, whom Bach much admired and studied. The electrifying Russian musician Dmitry Sinkovsky will appear in an obsolete and stimulating double role, both as solo violinist in the Four Seasons and countertenor in the cantata Cessate, omai cessate.
