Claudia Cannella, president of Hystrio-Associazione per la Diffusione della Cultura teatrale, graduated in Modern Literature from the University of Pavia (1990) and received her Ph.D. in Theatre History from the University of Florence (1999). She has been a publicist journalist since 1992.
Since 1998, she has directed the magazine Hystrio-Trimestrale di Teatro e Spettacolo where she began working in 1990 as editor and organizer of the Hystrio Prize. Since 1999, she has been artistic director of the Hystrio Prize.
She is a regular contributor, regarding prose theater, to Corriere delle Sera (since 2000) and its insert Vivimilano (since 1995). Still in the theatrical field, she has also collaborated with Pass Milano, Ridotto, Ricordi Oggi, Il Castello di Elsinore, Drammaturgia, Il Patalogo, Teatri delle Diversità, and Bianco e Nero.
In Milan, he has also collaborated and collaborates with Scuola Paolo Grassi (Festival Laboratorio Internazionale della Giovane Regia/Milano-San Petersburg, 2011; Finestra sulla drammaturgia tedesca, 2013 and 2014), Teatro Franco Parenti(curatorship of the Tfaddall Festival, 2013), with the State University/Scienze della Musica e dello Spettacolo and with the City Hall/Culture Department, joining, in 2016, the Evaluation Commission of the system of theatrical conventions of the City of Milan.
She has been moderator of meetings with artists and lecturer in theater criticism at the Venice Theatre Biennale directed by Antonio Latella (2017-2020).
Since 2022, she has been artistic consultant for the Teatro Verdi in Pordenone.
He has served or is on the juries of several theater awards (Hystrio Prize, Ubu Prize, National Association of Theater Critics Prize, Scenario Prize, Forever Young/La Corte Ospitale Prize, Nuova Scena/Trento Prize, Veretium Prize, Ugo Betti Prize, Kantor Prize, My Dream Prize).
He received the 1996 Award of Merit for Young Critics, awarded by the Council of the National Order of Journalists/National Association of Theatre Critics, and the "Diego Fabbri" and "Franco Sacchetti" Awards for Il Teatro del Cielo. Cinquant'anni di storia dell'Istituto del Dramma Popolare di San Miniato (edited by Ugo Ronfani, Milan, Lupetti, 1996).
Since 2016, he has been vice-president of the National Association of Theater Critics (Anct).
He is among the lecturers of the Hystrio Seminars.
