Inspired by the works of Thomas Ligotti, one of the most significant and imaginative writers of his generation, Fabio Condemi's work is constructed as a kind of art gallery, a place where the lines between dream, space and nightmare fade until they blur.

In Ligotti's stories one finds echoes of great weird and horror literature, from Shirley Jackson to H. P. Lovecraft, but also references to expressionist cinema and contemporary art, as well as authors such as Dino Buzzati, Jorge Luis Borges and Giacomo Leopardi. In its pessimism, Ligotti's writing has some strongly vital, ironic and uplifting elements. One of these is music: in his stories we find recordings, voices heard as if in a dream, strange sound installations and noises of all kinds, in a kind of tense and chilling score. Another paradoxically joyful element is horror: his characters are often lonely and fragile people who undertake a quest that will bring them face to face with the heart of the nightmare, but this quest, in its tragic dimension, allows them to lift a veil.
