Following an initial digital phase – created for the Lingua Madre project – centred on a fusion of experimentation and documentary, Gabriele Marangoni’s new project continues and evolves into a live performance in which the human voice becomes an expression of the absolute and a symbol of planet Earth’s desperate cry.

Francesca Della Monica’s highly distinctive voice and Damiano Meacci’s electronic processing bring to life the suffering of a dying planet, poisoned and murdered by its own children, seeking to stir consciences towards a still-possible cry of revolution. A sound creation which, through a creative and compositional process of sounds and noises, bears witness to the ruin of our bond with nature, the need to seek a possible silence, and the necessity of abandoning mass consumerism.

We have become the metastasis of our own living organism. With every movement we spread the cancer, we stifle the breath, we destroy, step by step, the skin that protects us, we burn every hand that nourishes us and, illuminated by the ignorance of a fatalistic smile, we plunge the murderous blade of arrogance into our mother’s womb. We must act; we must instil in the human mind an awareness of the necessary change. As in every dramatic historical period in the history of humanity, art must today rediscover the power of its own language, the strength of its own gesture; a primordial force capable of changing consciences, capable of saving the existence of the mother and her children.
