Through a meditation on animals and the ecosystems in which they live, the dancer and choreographer Annamaria Ajmone presents a performance that reflects on our relationship with the Other. With La notte è il mio giorno preferito, Ajmone continues her exploration of the body as malleable and mutable matter, capable of transforming spaces into places by creating parallels and temporal overlaps.
The work unfolds as a series of experiments, breaking down and reassembling the animal practice of tracking and being tracked, of seeking and hiding. Mysterious signals and perceptual tools, inspired by various species, form its connective tissue. Animals and plants, the organic and the inorganic, merge in the dark space of the nocturnal forest; landslides and calls burst forth, shattering its tranquillity. A forest that is neither virgin nor idealised, but technonatural, which incorporates and transforms the traces left by its inhabitants.
