Les Vents Français

with Emmanuel Pahud on his golden flute

Emmanuel Pahud, LuganoMusica's Artist in residence, likes to compare his versatility to that of a chameleon: "I try to change style, colour, phrasing, breathing and articulation in every piece I perform". For the second of his residency concerts, he has chosen a selection of chamber music pieces that enhance the wind instruments, ranging from Russian music (Glinka and Rimsky-Korsakov) to German repertoire (Beethoven and Spohr). Saint-Saëns will represent France, the homeland of most of Pahud's extraordinary partners for this concert: the Alsatian clarinettist Paul Meyer, Gilbert Audin, first bassoon of the Paris Opera Orchestra, the Provençal pianist Éric Le Sage and the equally famous Croatian horn player Radovan Vlatković.
