The LAC debuts the lyrical dichotomy La voix humaine by Francis Poulenc and Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, directed by Emma Dante and performed by Maestro Francesco Cilluffo conducting the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana; the Swiss Radio and Television Choir is conducted by Donato Sivo. Anna Caterina Antonacci stars in Poulenc's monologue; Stefano La Colla, Veronica Simeoni and Dalibor Jenis embody Mascagni's love triangle.

Following the success of Il barbiere di Siviglia (2018), La traviata (2022) and Anna Bolena (2023), the LAC is once again taking on the important task of producing an opera, staging the diptych composed of La voix humaine and Cavalleria rusticana, conducted by Maestro Francesco Cilluffo at the helm of the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, with the Coro della Radiotelevisione svizzera and directed by Emma Dante.
Anna Caterina Antonacci stars in Poulenc's tragédie lyrique, composed in 1958 and based on Jean Cocteau's play of the same name. Stefano La Colla, Veronica Simeoni and Dalibor Jenis, in the roles of Turiddu, Santuzza and Alfio, are the protagonists of the famous love triangle that Mascagni composed, inspired by Giovanni Verga's novella of the same name. The cast is completed by Lucrezia Drei (Lola) and Agostina Smimmero (Mamma Lucia).
Two profoundly different stories united by the themes of loneliness and the pain of love: in La voix humaine, a woman alone on stage clings to the last, heart-wrenching telephone conversation with the lover who has left her; in Cavalleria rusticana, the drama unfolds in an archaic, community-based Sicily, amid betrayal, jealousy and an inexorable destiny of revenge. Emma Dante's direction and Maestro Francesco Cilluffo's musical direction highlight the contrasts between private and collective rituals, sensuality and despair, victim and executioner. An intense experience, where music and theatre merge to recount the fragility and strength of the human soul.
