Having premiered in the 2024/25 season, Surviving you, always by Simon Waldvogel returns to the stage. The piece is the result of artistic research by the Treppenwitz Collective – one of the most innovative groups on the independent scene in Ticino – and is conceived as an immersion into the emotional realm of grief. A multidisciplinary exploration that weaves together the visual nostalgia of images from the past with the energy of live music and the power of performance.
Surviving you, always is a hybrid performance combining live sets, visual installation and poetry, conceived as an exploration of the theme of loss, but also of memory and remembrance of the people with whom we have spent part of our lives and who are no longer with us. The bodies on stage become the canvas upon which to paint the emotional landscape of grief. The use of artistic techniques such as collage, superimposition and multiplication helps to create a visual space that represents the complexity of this emotion. The original musical compositions and live performances modulate the soundscapes to reflect the emotional flow of the projected images, uniting past and present. The audience is immersed in a landscape that traverses the various thresholds accompanying the lives of those left behind: the survivors. The performance thus becomes an opportunity to participate in a process of processing and sharing, with the aim of transforming grief into a collective experience.
By projecting memories onto the stage, Surviving you, always seeks to weave a narrative that celebrates the past, honours the present and offers a moment of reconciliation with the future.
