In Sutures, the patch cables of the modular synthesiser act as connection points that hold a sonic fabric together. Each cable represents a thread connecting different modules, creating a network of sonic possibilities. The tactile act of plugging and unplugging the cables mirrors the surgical joining of the two edges of a wound — these lines of juncture through which Francisco Meirino creates a dynamic, expansive and ever-evolving sonic material. Patch cables serve not only as conductors of electrical signals, but also as instruments of expression, shaping the tonal contours, textures, amplitudes, and sometimes the lacerations within the composition — when the Sutures no longer hold.

A sound artist active since 1994 and based in Switzerland. His music explores the tension between programmable hardware and the potential for its failure. His interest lies primarily in what is not meant to be recorded: the end of life of electronic devices, electrostatic noise, magnetic fields and the unconventional use of musical equipment and sound systems — and how to exploit these sonic breakdowns in radically different ways within his pieces. His music combines complex textures, sonic precision and expansive spatial panoramas, and is compelling for its physical intensity and meticulous attention to detail.
