The Desguin Quartet, one of the most exciting emerging ensembles on the European scene, comes to the LAC with a programme spanning the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring works by Giacomo Puccini, Claude Debussy, Frank Martin and Franz Schubert. A journey that brings together different yet complementary musical languages, ranging from elegy to timbral exploration and cantabile.

The Desguin Quartet, acclaimed for the clarity of its sound and its warm, velvety timbre, presents a programme that brings together works of different eras and styles, united by a strong focus on the colour and expressiveness of the string quartet.
Puccini’s Crisantemi opens the concert with a subdued and elegiac character: a short piece, marked by a melancholic mood and direct lyricism. From this intimate setting, the programme shifts, with Debussy, towards a freer and more fluid sonic universe: the movement taken from Op. 10 is distinguished by its rhythmic energy and tonal variety.
The Pavane couleur du temps by the Swiss composer Frank Martin introduces a suspended dimension, inspired by a fairy-tale image, in which the composition reworks the dance tradition with elegance and tension.
Schubert’s Rosamunde Quartet concludes the programme by returning to the dawn of Romanticism, with a expansive and song-like style where the melodic line intertwines with a subtle melancholy, creating a more lyrical dimension.
A musical journey that highlights the expressive richness of the string quartet, capable of renewing itself across different eras and musical languages.
