In a room at the Hotel Bologna in Naples, Anna is organizing her papers and her thoughts: she is there to uncover the truth about Ettore Majorana’s disappearance on March 26, 1938. But the room isn’t the physicist’s—and it is Majorana himself, inexplicably present, who tells her so.
Only partially surprised, Anna seizes the opportunity to question him. Majorana, however, cannot—or will not—answer: he doesn’t even know the reason for his own presence. He would like to leave, but something is holding him back. And that something seems to have something to do with her, of all people.
The room thus transforms into a dreamlike, surreal space where two distinct spatial and temporal planes intertwine: the present-day dialogue between Anna and Majorana is overlaid by a multifaceted, fragmented past, made up of lectures, letters, testimonies, and encounters among scientists. A dizzying journey that attempts—perhaps in vain—to reconstruct and solve a mystery destined to remain unsolved.
