Mariangela Granelli—a two-time winner of the ANCT Award for Best Actress—stars in an intense monologue inspired by a real-life event that took place toward the end of U.S. President Donald Drump’s first term: the death sentence handed down to Lisa Montgomery, “the most broken woman in the world.”

Lisa – Rhapsody of a Broken Soul tells the story of the final silence before a long farewell. That final silence, just as Lisa Montgomery seemed to be the final chapter—a deranged murderer, but first and foremost, a child tormented by a mother and stepfather who dimmed her light, perhaps teaching her that only evil exists in life. Lisa committed a brutal murder; silence was always imposed on Lisa, following rapes, violence, and abuse of every kind. Lisa was sentenced to death. The team of psychologists who worked on the case repeatedly appealed for clemency for a woman described as “the most broken person in the world,” but President Trump did not grant the request. On the day of the lethal injection, the executioner asked Lisa if she had anything to say before she died; but she, accustomed to keeping quiet, simply replied, “No.”
