Presentation of the Laterale Project
The research group on contemporary performing arts for the new publishing project “Laterale” will explore the first research theme, “future tradition,” in a meeting open to the public.
These questions and reflections have been distilled into “Tradizione futura” (Future Tradition), the first research theme of Laterale, a new editorial and research project by LAC, developed in collaboration with the FIT International Festival of Theater and Contemporary Performance.
Although the three artists have very different artistic approaches, they share a common drive: to question the great traditions of theater without treating them as untouchable models; to imagine forms and languages capable of speaking to the present; and to engage with futures that may seem unsettling or even dystopian.
The screenings will be complemented by Laterale’s first public meeting, during which the new research group—comprising Maddalena Giovannelli, Rossella Menna, Francesca Serrazanetti, and Diego Vincenti—will present the project in conversation with directors Carmelo Rifici and Paola Tripoli and explore the first theme, “future tradition”.
