Piano Trio No. 3 in F minor, Op. 65
Cellist Gautier Capuçon returns to perform at the LAC alongside violinist Lisa Batiashvili and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet – a trio of exceptional soloists appearing together for the first time in Lugano. The recital programme offers a journey through chamber music for piano trio, featuring three works that mark crucial stages in the evolution of European music between the 19th and early 20th centuries. A unique opportunity to enjoy an intense and refined listening experience.
Through Rachmaninov's lyrical introspection, Debussy's harmonic and tonal sensitivity, and Dvořák's dramatic majesty, the concert traces a stylistic itinerary that embraces mature Romanticism, French pre-Impressionism, and Bohemian chamber symphonism, highlighting the interconnections and expressive peculiarities of each composer. The interpretation by Lisa Batiashvili, Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Gautier Capuçon guarantees a performance of extraordinary quality, capable of restoring the expressive depth and timbral richness of the works in the programme. The cohesion of the trio, combined with the individual sensitivity of its members, allows them to explore every stylistic nuance, highlighting the continuity and differences between the languages of Rachmaninov, Debussy and Dvořák. The concert thus presents itself as an immersion in the evolution of chamber music between the 19th and early 20th centuries.
