Loosely based on the life and work of Galileo Galilei, this new performance by Carmelo Rifici and Andrea De Rosa is an artistic and productive collaboration altogether new for today’s theatre world and deals with the scientific problems and great mysteries of our age.

Written by Angela Dematté and Fabrizio Sinisi, the work features the award winning Luca Lazzareschi and Milvia Marigliano alongside the young performers Catherine Bertoni de Laet, Giovanni Drago, Roberta Ricciardi and Isacco Venturini.
Galileo Galilei was a pivotal figure for our culture, a turning point in western modernity. It was Galileo who brought down Aristotelian cosmology and demolished a way of representing the world that had reassured people for centuries: science and theology, representation and truth went their separate ways for ever.
Three stories come together in a single performance: the grief of a young woman, a mother and intellectual, leads her to question her own vision of the world; a parable in verse on the theme of a generation – and of a polis – which indissolubly linked its own destiny with that of its technologies; and finally, Galileo’s own trial of 1633.
Using different languages and means of expression, the performance investigates the destinies and questions facing the contemporary world and what today we refer to as modernity.
