One of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies, the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) is making its debut at the LAC with an extraordinary programme created by three world-renowned choreographers. The performances will feature the young dancers of NDT 2, a company dedicated to emerging dancers which, over the years, has established itself as an independent ensemble, developing a strong and distinctive artistic identity.

Sleepless by the celebrated Czech choreographer Jiří Kylián is a work for six dancers in which the set design, conceived by Kylián himself – a synthetic back wall composed of eight large strips – transforms the stage into a space of illusions, fantasy and unexpected connections. A poetic and dreamlike work danced to the music of composer Dirk Haubrich, who reworks the slow sections of Mozart’s Adagio and Rondo in C minor for glass harmonica, K. 617.
SAABA, the acclaimed work by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar, originally created for the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, comes to NDT 2 for the first time in a bold new version. Imbued with passion and vulnerability, the performance unfolds through hypnotic movement, evocative lighting and the irresistible groove of composer Ori Lichtik. SAABA is yet another brilliant expression of Eyal’s choreographic style, capable of effortlessly transforming classical ballet and contemporary dance into something beyond imagination.
The programme concludes with a new work by Noé Soulier, a French choreographer who explores contemporary dance across a variety of contexts.
