Triton is a cross-media project by Invernomuto that combines sculpture, sound, and storytelling, unfolding through collaborations, performances, and a listening platform. Conceived as a sensitive, portable device, Triton transforms data from a living ecosystem into sound and light, generating a constantly evolving composition.
Triton
is attuned to a real colony of amphibians—salamanders living in two ancient rock-cut pools at Pietra Perduca, in northern Italy. The device observes its environment, monitoring water levels, light conditions, and the animals’ movements, and translates these signals into patterns of sound and light.
Triton
functions simultaneously as both an instrument and an organism, suggesting a different way of listening to nonhuman worlds. The work evolves continuously, generating a composition that changes alongside the life surrounding it.
As a multiplatform, ever-evolving project, Triton
unfolds through a series of listening sessions and soundscapes, activating its own acoustic dimension and expanding its narrative.
