The Unclimbable Alps: In Search of Currito
Mª del Mar Suárez – “La Chachi”
The ascent as a symbol of overcoming; the pilgrimage route as an image of salvation. The two proposed journeys redeem the body; both challenge us to engage with what remains elusive.
*Los inescalables Alpes*
(The Unclimbable Alps
) is a concrete journey: it takes you from one point to another like an adventure, like a tragedy. Along the way, the body is transfigured through penance: a body that implores, transforms, prostrates itself on the ground, and contorts. In this quest, the krump—with its ecstatic physicality—and flamenco emerge.
