Set against the glittering and decadent backdrop of the 1920s, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who kills her lover when he threatens to leave her. Determined to avoid conviction, Roxie manipulates public opinion, the media and her cellmate, Velma Kelly, enlisting the help of Chicago’s most skilled criminal lawyer, who turns her crime into a flurry of sensational headlines worthy of today’s tabloids.
