Britney Spears sings “keep on dancing till the world ends,” and Ke$ha says, “the party don’t stop”: in times of crisis, partying becomes a refuge, and seizing the moment is a survival strategy.
Driven by his nostalgia for the pop anthems of the late 2000s—tinged with nihilism and a joyful fatalism in the face of anxiety about an uncertain future —Baptiste Cazaux brings to life a work that is rooted in contemporary melancholy and seeks to transcend it.
On stage, the French performer dances as a DJ mixes tracks, genres, and references: an explosive and fragmented body, a shifting collage in which dissociation becomes a form of resistance. In a psychedelic and sensual drift, chaos and memory merge to reveal a hazy and vibrant landscape.
