After En Abyme and Il grande vuoto, presented in previous seasons, Roman director and author Fabiana Iacozzilli returns to LAC with her latest work, inspired by the tragic story of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which crashed in the Andes on 13 October 1972 with 45 people on board.
The plane was carrying the Old Christians Club rugby team, along with friends and family, on a trip from Montevideo to Santiago, Chile. Among the passengers, only one had no connection to the group. Twenty-nine survived the crash, but after seventy-two days of waiting and struggling against altitude, cold and hunger, only sixteen were rescued. On 22 December 1972, the world learned with dismay that the survivors had fed on the bodies of their deceased friends.
The result of careful research, including interviews with survivors and their families, the show by Fabiana Iacozzilli and Linda Dalisi explores the depths of the human body and resilience through a visually striking stage device: hybrid puppets inspired by Giacometti's thread-like figures. These evocative and disturbing puppets place the narrative on a metaphysical plane, restoring all the spiritual and mysterious energy that permeates the story.
An intense show that, intertwining puppet theatre and direct testimonies, questions limits, sacrifice and the possibility of survival.
