Jazz visionary Avishai Cohen, appearing on stage at the LAC for the first time, is realising a dream he has nurtured for over a decade: to create an encounter between jazz and symphonic music, together with his trio and in collaboration with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. The concert is a fascinating journey through the many influences of his music, an interweaving of cultural roots and genres ranging from jazz to classical, from Jewish tradition to Afro-Caribbean rhythms, in a continuous dialogue between past and present.

The encounter between the Avishai Cohen Trio and the 92-piece Göteborgs Symfoniker is a daring undertaking, a sound experience that challenges genre conventions, enriching each piece with new nuances and intensity. Cohen's music lends itself perfectly to this transformation, retaining its expressive power while expanding into an orchestral dimension. The concert programme includes original pieces such as “When I'm Falling” and “Song for My Brother” (in which the double bass becomes the narrator), alongside traditional Jewish pieces such as “Morenika” and “Puncha Puncha”. Cohen's trio – with Itay Simhovich on piano and Yali Stern on percussion – maintains the energy of jazz even in a symphonic context, creating a perfect balance between power and delicacy. This concert is a unique opportunity to experience Cohen's boundless music in an unforgettable evening that combines melody, rhythm and symphonic grandeur.
