Gebrüder Teichmann dj-set

Sinfonia di una grande città (1927)

A masterpiece of avant-garde silent cinema, Berlin – Die Sinfonie der Großstadt by Walter Ruttmann is one of the most extraordinary representations of the modern metropolis. The screening will be enhanced by live sound by Gebrüder Teichmann, an iconic DJ and producer duo from the Berlin electronic scene.

Their performance combines fragments of electronic music, urban subcultures and contemporary experimentation, creating a unique experience of sonic and visual reappropriation of the city. Made in the 1920s, Berlin – Die Sinfonie der Großstadt is a cinematic journey that captures the essence of Berlin during its period of maximum expansion and transformation.
The structure, similar to an urban symphony in five acts, accompanies the viewer from dawn to night, exploring the contrast between work and leisure, speed and stillness, crowds and solitude. The Teichmann duo blends electronic sounds and acoustic tradition, using the DJ set as a narrative tool. The music selected and reworked by the DJs to accompany the film was created in Berlin over the last hundred years – from popular music to avant-garde jazz, from song to Krautrock and minimal techno – and for the Swiss premiere in Lugano, it will be complemented by works by Swiss artists with links to Berlin. The performance thus offers sounds from Ruttmann's era, gradually extending to the Berlin underground culture of the following decades, for a total sensory experience.
