The Nordic jazz tradition is a continuous search for balance between composition and improvisation, between sound and silence. Arcanum's sound universe feeds on layers of timbre, alternating moments of lyrical intensity with spaces of relaxed musical breathing. Henriksen, with his ethereal and suffused trumpet, recalls the sounds of the Japanese shakuhachi or the Armenian duduk, while Seim weaves melodic lines suspended between European jazz tradition and Eastern microtonal inflections.
