Based on Michael Ende's famous fantasy novel, MoMo – Alla scoperta del tempo (MoMo – Discovering Time) is a show for the whole family that combines traditional mask theatre techniques with contemporary physical theatre experimentation. A modern and surprisingly relevant fairy tale comes to life on stage, a powerful metaphor for human existence and the meaning that each of us is called to give it.
Momo is a brave and determined little girl who is called upon to save humanity from the most colossal scam ever perpetrated against it: the Grey Gentlemen, self-styled agents of the Time Savings Bank, are stealing minutes, hours and days from their unsuspecting victims. A dark cloud envelops the entire city and the days of those who fall into the trap become frantic and joyless.
With the providential help of Master Hora and the turtle Cassiopeia, Momo will lead the battle to restore to humanity the only wealth it truly possesses: time.
A compelling story with surprising characters and intricate mysteries. A poem of images and original music capable of captivating young people and offering adults an extraordinary metaphor for existence.
‘The feeling,’ writes Marco Cupellari, author and director of the show, "is that the system we have built has a life of its own and its survival has become the sole purpose of our collective effort.
Humanity seems unable to stop, even when it should and probably would like to, as in the face of the ever-looming threat of climate crisis. Looking at this scenario, the survival and evolution of our species appear to be deeply connected to a renewed relationship with time; a relationship that puts the mystery and wonder of every experience back at the centre."
