Led by Chiara Bersani, the workshop forms part of the festival’s curatorial dialogue, promoting processes of transmission, exchange and co-creation, and exploring the relationship between identity, continuity and innovation in contemporary dance.

Chiara Bersani’s research as a performer and creator is based on the concept of the Political Body and on the development of practices aimed at training its presence and action.

Under her guidance, the workshop will explore the themes of dance, heritage and the emergence of choreographic gesture from different bodies. With her sensitivity and presence, Chiara Bersani will guide participants in exploring the power of resonance between bodies and redefining space through movement.

The workshop is accessible and open to all professional dancers, with or without disabilities.

At the end of the workshop, a final presentation open to the public will be held.

Chiara Bersani is an Italian performer and creator working in the fields of the performing arts, experimental theatre and contemporary dance. Whether as a performer or as a director/choreographer, she moves fluidly between different artistic languages and visions. Her work as a performer and creator is based on the concept of the Political Body and on the development of practices aimed at training its presence and action. The ‘manifesto’ work of this research is Gentle Unicorn, a performance included in the Aerowaves circuit.
She was awarded the 2018 UBU Prize for best new actress/performer under 35. In 2019, with Gentle Unicorn, she won the Total Theatre Award for dance at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Supported by the European project apap – Feminist Future, in 2023 she presented her first solo exhibition, Deserters, at the Kunsthaus in Basel, in collaboration with GAMeC in Bergamo.
In 2025, she received the ANTI Prize for Live (Kuopio, Finland) and was an artist-in-residence at the Triennale Milano Teatro for the three-year period 2025–2027. Her work is supported by MiC – Direzione Generale Spettacolo.
