A talk with three pairs of choreographers and dramaturgs who work in German-speaking Switzerland, French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino, to explore their perspectives on the relationship between dance and dramaturgy. The session will open with a presentation on Danse & Dramaturgie, a residency exchange programme involving seven partner theatres, including the LAC, and fourteen artists from all over Switzerland.

A fundamental part of choreographic practice concerns dramaturgical thought and processes. Dramaturgs help to connect elements, ideas, and people. Whether these relationships are formal, narrative, experiential, experimental – or all these dimensions together – the choreographic process benefits greatly from questioning the relationship between theory and practice, to ensure contextual relevance, breadth of perspectives, and structured artistic proposals that can reach their audience.

The Swiss programme Danse & Dramaturgie brings together seven institutions from three different linguistic regions of Switzerland. Coordinated by Théâtre Sévelin 36, the project involves the following partners: LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura, Tanzhaus Zürich, Südpol Luzern, TU – Théâtre de l’Usine, Dampfzentrale Bern and ROXY Birsfelden.
