*The Story of a Man and His Shadow* is a black-and-white animated film, a silent movie featuring two live-action actors. The scene opens onto a void: no objects on stage, only the light that slowly grows brighter. A character bursts onto the scene—representing an ordinary person—who slowly builds his own destiny and future around an invisible house, sketched onto the stage with simple white lines. An unexpected figure disrupts his plans and begins to alter the carefree man’s ordinary life.
The narrative arc and the dynamic between the two characters describe, in a simple and direct way, the conflicts between human beings, between black and white, between good and evil, and between a man and his shadow.
With very few stage props and an original use of live music, the play tells a story as old as time, unfolding amid conflicts, misunderstandings, and gags that are both funny and poetic.
