In anticipation of the operatic diptych Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni and Francis Poulenc's La voix humaine that will be staged Sept. 15-21 under the direction of Emma Dante and the musical direction of Maestro Francesco Cilluffo at the helm of OSI, the LAC is offering a free admission evening designed to accompany viewing and listening.
Tindaro Granata and Anahì Traversi are the performers of the dramatized reading of excerpts from Giovanni Verga's novella Cavalleria rusticana - which recounts a drama consummated in an archaic and communal Sicily, amid betrayals, jealousies and an inexorable destiny of revenge - and from La voix humaine, one of Jean Cocteau's most celebrated works. The atmospheres of the realist and symbolist world will be accompanied by the best-known arias of Mascagni and Poulenc, performed on the piano by Maestro Gioacchino Balistreri. A performance in the sign of interdisciplinarity that becomes a prologue to the vision of the opera.
