Kamal Khan—co-founder and artistic director of Opera for Peace, conducting the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana at the Gala—is the thread that ties the entire week together. His masterclass combines the perspectives of a conductor and a voice teacher: sound production, interpretation, and stage discipline. He is convinced that talent should be nurtured wherever it arises. His work at the University of Cape Town is chronicled in the Emmy Award-winning documentary “I Live to Sing.”
