When LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura opens in September 2015 in Ticino, it will be one of the largest cultural centers in Europe. Similar to the KKL in Lucerne, the LAC will host various cultural institutions: “LuganoMusica,” “LuganoInScena” and “Museo d’Arte della Svizzera Italiana.” LAC creates a top transcultural offering, promoting artistic diversity in Lugano and the entire region. With the outreach program “LAC Edu,” LAC seeks to make art, music and theater more accessible to the general public. Credit Suisse and UBS are supporting the new cultural center as the two Main Partners. In doing so, Switzerland’s two largest fi nancial institutions are showing their joint commitment to Ticino and cultural diversity in Switzerland. UBS and Credit Suisse’s engagement enables a unique endeavor: together these two major banks, deeply rooted in Switzerland support the establishment of an institution with top artistic quality. This will allow them to offer their clients, employees and the general public in Ticino and Switzerland unique cultural experiences.
UBS commitment – focus «LAC Edu»
In addition to its commitment to the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura cultural center, UBS is exclusive sponsor of the “LAC Edu” educational program, which includes all the arts represented in LAC – from music and theater to the visual arts. Our aim is to make culture accessible to a broad audience and to promote cultural appreciation. Youth and families are at the center of our activities.
“We at UBS are delighted and it’s our wish to accompany LAC in its development and to contribute to cultural diversity in Switzerland. In doing so, we are continuing our long tradition as a promoter of people engaged in the cultural sector as well as cultural events, including the Fondation Beyeler, Fondation Pierre Gianadda, Art Basel, Opera House Zurich or the Montreux Jazz Festival. We have also been committed to the promotion of culture in Ticino for a long time. For more than 30 years, we have been one of the main sponsors of the Festival del fi lm Locarno. In addition, since 1998, we have sponsored concerts at the Lugano Festival – a commitment that will continue in the context of the LAC. As regional director of UBS Ticino, but even more importantly as a citizen of Ticino, I am proud that our region – with the support of UBS – will be enriched by a cultural institution with top artistic quality. With its diverse program, versatile, modern infrastructure and cultural appeal, LAC will also play a crucial role in the development of Ticino as a tourism and convention destination.”
