179 works from the collection of Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati available for the exhibitions of the Art Museum of Lugano and the Cantonal Art Museum.
The collectors Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati have made arrangements with the City of Lugano for 179 pieces of work belonging to their Collection to be stored in the underground rooms of Central Park. The warehouse, which is a temporary exhibition area at the same time, is called "-1".
The Convention regulating the storage of the Olgiati Collection provides for this artistic patrimony to be available, from now on, for the exhibitions of the Art Museum of Lugano and the Cantonal Art Museum. With the fulfilment of some conditions, and notably the unification of both Museums in one legal entity, the private collectors will donate to the Museum a part of the stored works of young but well-established artists.
Moreover, the Olgiatis believe that the City of Lugano with its unified Museum can become the natural heir to the entire collection.
In tune with a tradition that is deep-rooted in Switzerland, the project builds a solid and constructive relationship between public institutions and private collectors.
