MASI Lugano pays tribute to Giancarlo Olgiati, a friend and visionary patron of the Museum, and a cultivated and refined collector.

 

Over the years, Giancarlo Olgiati, together with his wife Danna, built a collection guided by a personal yet rigorous vision, spanning more than a century of art history, with a particular focus on the avant-garde movements of the twentieth century, Italian art and the dialogue with international artistic practices.

 

In 2012, Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati decided to open a significant part of their Collection to the public, granting it in trust to the City of Lugano, thanks to an agreement with MASI and its Foundation. Since then, the Giancarlo and Danna Olgiati Collection, housed in the spaces adjacent to MASI, has been a key feature of the contemporary cultural landscape.
