Born in Turin in 1993, Simone Rubino is the 2018 winner of the Abbiati Prize allocated by the Italian critics to the best musician of the year. Thanks to his an incredible energy and radiant enthusiasm, Rubino has managed to transform the percussion into a solo instrument in its full right. Thanks to his awards and prestigious collaborations, the young musician has become an absolute reference. As the dedicatee of several new compositions, he is the advocate of a whole new repertoire based on rhythm. Rubino will appear in Lugano with his ensemble and a programme of contemporary pieces for all sorts of percussion instruments, ranging from the marimba to the musician's own body.
