Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Piano and orchestra concert no. 25 in C major, K503
Symphony no. 9 in C major, "The Great", D.944
The Orchestra Mozart of Bologna was founded in 2004 by Claudio Abbado within the long-standing and illustrious Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna to which Mozart once belonged. The support offered by a musician as famous and authoritative as Bernard Haitink has enabled to resume the activity of this ensemble where experienced musicians – often leading members in some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras – play alongside young talents from all over the world. The orchestra thus creates opportunities for encounters and a sharing of experience and knowledge between artists of different generations. LuganoMusica already seized last year the extraordinary opportunity of inviting the Orchestra Mozart together with Maestro Haitink. The invitation has been renewed this year for two concerts focusing on Mozart and Schubert. Two masterpieces in C major are programmed for the 1st of April: Schubert’s famous "Grande" Symphony, preceded by Mozart’s Piano Concerto KV 503.
